The Milkman & Postman in Britain.
Beckbury, Shifnal, Scottish Highlands, plus
Single Track Country Lanes or Roads

This page starts with a photograph was taken in a small village called Beckbury in Shropshire, it is a British Milkman with what is known as a Milk Float or small open sided van, they can be found in all the counties of the UK. These vans used to be Battery powered. Before that they were horse drawn carts with large stainless steel vessels containing the milk. The milk was measured out to customers with a ladle (large cup shaped spoon) from the milk casks to the customers jug.

Here we see a Petrol Milk float in a small village in the county of Shropshire central England. The Milkman driving the milk float has with him his young trainee milkman. This milkman has milk bottles which the young man is carrying in the special milk bottle carry basket.
The time of the year is spring and this is a typical village with its oak trees and leafy hedges on the side of the road. The road is the smallest type in Britain, however Different parts of the uk have these small roads in wide open places, you will see these as you (or I place more photos) progress through this website. All the roads are smooth and good quality, the exception proves the rule.

The below photo shows the milkman in an English country lane on the village edge.

Children in a typical country village in Britain. The British are animal lovers, these children are no exception as you can see. The Dog is a human lover, especially young ones.

Remote area of Britain, the Postman and his Post bus in the far north of Scotland, here the post delivery van is also the public service bus. Really good common sense.

A normal country lane in middle England. Most people never need to travel on these small single track roads or lanes.

Traditional Croft Cottage in far north of Scotland. These cottages are usually in good order with central heating, double glazing and two feet thick (.6 mtr) walls. The wind can blow but it makes little difference inside. A 100 miles per hour wind would not be unexpected, it would have no effect on these buildings.
