Rays Scania is here waiting to go across the channel, his son took this photo, seems another HGV driver in the making.
This Photo is followed by some Big Big Trucks, Desert Monsters driven by Brits.
Alan in the photo, is now on HGV with Alternative Logistics in Glasgow, but previously drove these in Libya; so look out for him on the Motorway in the UK with something smaller at 44 tons.
This was on the Eastern side of Libya, about 700 miles south of Marsa Brega, he worked for Dowell Schluberger, now just Schluberger, doing cementing for new wells. One of the guys he worked with was Jonathon Collett, now a partner in JODA Freight (Skipton).
Another page on this site has about 5 trucks and about a 350 ton load in transit
The images on this page were compiled using what would be described today as,, old technology ,, later pages on the photo gallery list have state of the art as of December 2003, when taken by the author, some supplied images are as seen and my ability to correct poor images is limited by the old phrase, "You cana make a silk purse from a sows ear".
This website welcomes photographs sent in by visitors to the site, and we understand that situations are not always perfect for photography, so please send in your photo via e mail or mail me on the webmaster link and ask for a normal postal address. Photographs should have a sae for the return of the photos please.
Then we see a coach from down under in Ausie Land (Australia), I was going to put the photo upside down, but, I thought you chaps might get GBH with me.
Cormacks Transport, Bear Road Services, McAdie & Reeve from the Orkney Islands passing through the Far North of Scotland.
Another late photo for this page is from the Brrrrrrrr!!! northern parts, we have here a Scotish driver, Ray, on his way back over the cold line, The Arctic Circle. His son says as follows.. - .. I have dug this one out of the good man himself when he worked for a dutch company called Van Vliet here he is pictured in the northern most part of Norway going across the Artic Circle .....

Allan! HGV driver with alternative logistics is here in the Desert, gota B taking his break because of the Tacho, whata else wud a fellow do!

Below on this photo, I don’t see the driver anywhere, cud be he dropped off to sleep and this was taken by a passing Arab on a Camel,,,, his defence cud be, there is not halt sign for 500 miles or clearly defined road,,, well the open air makes a chap sleepy!

Below we have a photograph of a grave and stone. In 1878 a man going north or south over the "Ord" of Caithness, a mountainous part of what is now the A9, met his death. Mr. W. Welch was buried possibly where he was found.
When this part of the road was upgraded his grave was discovered. It is now also upgraded and sits at the side of the lay-by which is located on the top of the climb if you are driving north.
If you are going up that way call in for a break at this viewpoint lay-by where you can often see perhaps 100 miles across the sea.
If you look at the special snowblower pictures on the photo gallery page you will why Caithness can be dangerous in the winter for the unprepared traveller.

Bear Road services in the far north of Scotland getting ready for the storm when many are tucked up in bed, not the Night Truckers of course, they depend on these guys doing their job, and we all know its good to see them on that bad night in the mountains
