Alston, Goliath, Faun HGV

Alston Goliath Faun combine to make a Heavy Goods Journey, possibly about 300 Tons on this occasion. The compliment was as follows.....
Four Goliaths or Fauns were used in a One pull and three pushing. The row of wheels you can see are one row of four across the width of the vehicle, and then there is the same again at the other side of the load, before it is pushed by the other three Goliaths. On this rear section a driver site in his cab, apart from the front driver and the 3 pushing Goliaths, that’s Five Drivers for the one load, Gordon Bennet, that makes a 44 toner look like a dinky toy.
This load was destined for Canada, North America. Three photos show its full configuration.
When this load goes mobile a team of police officers on motorbikes keep the road clear. The load moves a planned distance each time it moves, from very little to about a mile possibly. Imagine the traffic congestion, well surprise surprise, hardly any, all due to good planning and control by the police who were buzzing about like bees and did a fantastic job, well its true chaps, they did, I speak as I find. A few more HGV are below this Goliath.
