I regret that each day I drive in my car (no lorries/HGV Artics since about 1962), I see events that can be constructive to accidents. The sad thing is chaps that lorry drivers, truck drivers if you like, are quite likely to see the Ambulance service. Anyone who has availed him or herself of this service will tell you how good it is, dedicated people who do the job every day with the same energy. In recent months I needed their service due health problems, I did not want the service, but had to call them, no more about me but! Thank you Ambulance Services wherever you are.
Now in retirement years my experience has led me to believe that this special breed of people are the cream of our national health service,, my experience and observation of hospital staff and the time they spend sitting around talking compared to the times they actually visit patients is marked,,, I am sure that out there,, there is an excellent ward nurse, who pops around and cares for the patients on the ward,, I can hear a nurse somewhere saying we don’t get the time,,, my answer is you must be an exception,,, there are parts of the national health service with nurses especially looking after day patients who are just first class,,, but go to your average overnight ward in your average hospital and observe,,,, in this respect things have gone backwards and I am drawn to the conclusion that vocation is not an entry requirement for nurses, rather educational qualifications,, not that we don’t need some,,, but Florence Nightingale look away,,
I have chosen Scotland here, this Ambulance is located at Wick, one of the Scottish mainland’s Northern outposts, they often work in conjunction with helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, due to the large region they have to cover We can see the outside of this Ambulance and then the rear looking In, followed by the inside and all its facilities, arrived at by evolution, Ambulance crews asking for this and that, and eventually getting it, all for our benefit...... BUT ...... you don’t want that service do you,, however some of you will need it, driving to close to a car in that middle motorway lane,,, woe! Hold up chaps,,,, before you have a go at me, remember I have the tea shirt and all its sweaty frustration, use your lights or and horn, get that special hooter, and let it rip,,, its safer. Its a puzzle as to how the driver passed a test, seriously,, its so obvious,, I am inclined to think that they may in fact not have a licence, so it could be an idea to take their number and report them,,, why not!,,,,,,,,,,, they obviously don’t give a hoot about others so report them. The police motorway patrol car or unmarked car should pull these people and read them the riot act, or give them a fixed fine if possible,, but it seems only Reg Hollis (the bill actor on a TV programme) will bother, good old Reg, so please police patrols, you know frustration causes accidents, middle lane driving is one driver type we can all do without, pull these drivers over every time and fine them or book them for whatever is possible, these people kill indirectly.
Stopping an HGV takes a lot of time! You need to see really far ahead and be able to stop. One big pile up took 40 seconds from beginning to end, there were articulated vehicles all across the motorway because they could NOT stop.
Don’t be one of the next in a pile up, to prevent your involvement, drive all the vehicles 500yds ahead and less,,,, and if you cant see them all up to the 500yd mark, at motorway speeds, back off and slow down, better late than never. We know you can usually anticipate a lorry driver, but not a car, but what if the driver (lorry or not) in front of you cant see 500yds ahead and there is a pile up,,,, whoops! Remember the wife and kids, they love you!
In the season of fog I see some of you guys in the night going through the fog as if you have some mystical ability to see through it,,, you cant,,,, but,,, it can mean you will need the Ambulance service,,,, I know most are sensible and don’t do this,,, but,, as we know,,, to many do do it! and that can get us a bad name. Sure the cars do it, but they are "Not Professional".
I have never seen a petroleum Tanker driver doing it, which says something, so follow their good example.
Sorry about the previous paragraphs, but if it saves a life it was worth it, now we have below a nice big engine for your truck or Lorry, you could transplant it, if there were some space to put it in.
Entanet have a nice building here, built by none Brits I am told, cos we didn’t know how well enough,, makes sense when you look at the photo. Entanet also have a large download facility for the UK, serving TUCOWS who have a massive amount of programmes for download, some free, some shareware, some are try and buy, its a good place to visit for all sorts of programmes, I shall leave it to your skill to track down the correct www address. You will see that as you elect the mirror for your zone (site closest to you, all with the same programmes) that Telford has Entanet, who's photograph you can see on this page, well its interesting to see that download server building which we all can use from time to time.
