Budweiser Cadbury Giant Egg & Jeffs coaches

Budweiser Beer pictured here being delivered to Asda Customers, wait for it!!!,,,,,,, Free. I remember seeing a counterpart truck in the USA, delivering north of the Mason Dixon line in Pennsylvania. smart outfits.

To mention a bit about the Mason Dixon line, and how it came to be there,,, well the Americans, colonists if you like, were having a argument as to where the boundary was between Maryland and Pennsylvania, so at that time they decided not to shoot each other, instead they called on the mother country to rule where this line or boundary was. The English courts ruled that it was to be,, where it is today,, and a couple of surveyors called Mason and Dixon were called in to survey the land and draw the line where that English court said it should be. You see one fellow owned Pennsylvania, his name was Penn or somat like that, and a guy in Maryland owned that area. Later on of course they started shooting each other, its worth knowing that the Mason Dixon line is not really a geographical north south divide,,, really just what is explained above. Even today confederate Flags can be seen flying from houses in the woods in that area, Spooky!. You really wanted to know that didn't you? never mind now you know how things can get out of hand!
There are signs saying don’t shoot the bears, and local residents who happen to have an old cannon, may have a test firing, without a cannon ball up the hole of course, I think! but,,,, it makes a rather big bang,,, the American way.

Back to Englandshire,,, Then we have coach driver Glyn Britton with Jeff’s Coaches, also we took over the Green bus for the pic, nice old bus,, cor! they were the days, when steam came out of the engine radiator cap, the smell of the bus garage, the sound of the old engine and gear box. Oh modus joyous! now its automatic boxes that whisper, and an engine that gives a low growl.

The local bus ready to take passengers all over those country lanes on the English Welsh border, driver conductor all in one.
Once upon a time there were no driver conductors, there was one of each. The bell was a leather cord running on the ceiling of the bus from front to back, connected at the front to a bell, and only the conductor was allowed to ring the bell. Any attempt by a passenger to stop the bus by their own use of the bell, caused a full scale enquiry with the possibility of the police being called to investigate and take the offender of to the local police B&B (cop shop). How times change!

In April 2008 the UK Commercial Vehicle motor Show was under way in Birmingham at the NEC. Our photographer (click the preceding link to go there now) was there there looking for that HGV we would all like to drive around the EU and wherever else. The EU market place has now overtaken the USA. The last 20 years has seen massive changes in HGV operation over the EU region,, so keep looking for those green HGV's.
