Graham Smith HGV driver here with Hammonds Logistics, Keighley, West Yorkshire on his way back to home base. If I remember correctly he had been held up and thought he would not be able to make it back to home base.
In the 1960’s I remember seeing written on the back of Trucks, "Have Wife Must Travel". Recently at Xmas time One 15 ton rigid had a phrase written on the rear saying, "More Drops than Santa". I know the feeling having been there at one time myself,, its HELL! And one of the hardest jobs as all HGV and PSV drivers know.
