Another page of Truck, Bus or Coach Photographs, old and new, all doing various jobs of transportation.
We must remember that the potential cost of a load on a Bus or Coach is far more than a Truck could be, what price is life.
For myself as a HGV driver of yesteryear, I also drove Coaches, Hire cars, Taxi, Chauffeur driven R.R., Austin Princesses, on Weddings and Funerals.
I was also for a period of time paid to drive my charge on the M1 at (actually cruise) 125mph and more, almost every day. A point to note is that 140mph was very fast in 1960. This was not dangerous as it would be today on the M1, and of course conditions determined the speed at the moment.
I am saying this for two reasons.
It was a privilege to have such experiences and qualifications.
I can relate to most of the professional drivers reading this, that it is important and valuable to understand a point of view from experience, (and I stress), which I think it was a privilege to have, and with hindsight am grateful.
Whytes Coaches at a water hole for passengers.
Whytes Coaches and driver taken in 2000 on the M6, very smart as are most coaches.
One of the motorway coaches in transit near Gretna Green, a passenger break. This is a number 533 destination Wrexham on the English Welsh Border. I joined the RAF from Wrexham as a young man.
The driver was filling with fuel at ballinluig Transport cafe on the A9 north of perth. Ropes and sheets are worth a look. He has a heavy load.
Any of you chaps know how to do a multi loop dolly on ropes, then ask a ropes and sheets man to show you, its easy and a must know.
The Royal Air Force at work, his cargo is destined for errr, he is not allowed to say of course. One day he might be with Eddie Stobarts, who knows, the circle goes round.
The RAF en Route......... nuff said.
Tanks in transit. One of these is a command tank, so I am told, the other..... just an ordinary tank ready for a driver, fancy the job.... its all driving.
Someone has to drive this dumper truck, he or she needs to be qualified and a careful person as we all are. Here its north on the M6 perhaps for the only time in its life.
