TNT Electric vehicle
A TNT Electric delivery vehicle is show here, These vehicles would be great to drive. Maintenance costs must be extremely low apart from fuel cost per mile. Many different bodies (from different companies) were available for those wanting different considerations in mileage and size. Some excellent vans with low loading facilities and quite massive capacity were on show meeting the needs of different situations and again,,,the customer considerations.

Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show) NEC Birmingham 2011

This page contains photographs from The Commercial Vehicle Show Birmingham 2011. The photographs are generally 1680 by 1260, which are good for 22inch wide screens & TV screens. All images are compressed and pixel coded for copyright protection, so don't be tempted, they are also compressed for web page display, and whilst good, originals uncompressed are needed for quality printing.

The CV Show in 2011 was really very good and seemed more comprehensive that in the past, in that vehicles of all sizes were there in plenty. Green Vehicles, electric vehicles were in good presence. Some of the designs were better than good; indeed they were very impressive especially in the Looks Department. Inner cities with pollution controls need more of these and some of the big supermarkets seem to be taking this on board with gusto for delivery vehicles.

The Bevan Group commercial vehicle body builders delivered a stunning looking vehicle (picture available on this page) in green, the body work on an electric delivery outsize van was a cracker and whilst looks is not everything it does get you noticed, the paint work was remarkable, a head turner, forgive the pun, but unlike J.M.W. Turner of the 18th and 19th century not invited to the Tate,,, so far as I know!

Enjoy the images provided below,, Citroen was one company that had an eye-catcher with its business class logo on its vans and very smart girls drawing more attention in the same colours,, it seemed a little like Richard Branson was in charge, but I don't think he has bought Citroen yet?

The NEC is an excellent venue, whilst London can be a pain in my opinion. I visited London with an exhibitors entry ticket for a prestigious agricultural Machinery show for the nation,,,,,,,,,,,, but,,,,,,,, there was no parking space available,, not even with an exhibitors special entry ticket. It was raining, the parking attendant suggested I use the Tesco supermarket park,, but, time would be limited to 1 hour+! My thoughts were,,, never again!

What amazed me about the show I mention above, was that it was a Countryside show for the UK, Farmers etc. and yet they picked a London venue with grossly inadequate parking, coupled with being situated for the convenience of one part of England, the south, and if you needed to fly in, go by train, or drive it's just totally wrong, unfair, inconvenient.

The NEC Birmingham is a good national venue, VIRTUALLY UNLIMITED PARKING is available,, an International Train Station is right on the NEC, you walk in from the Rail station all under cover. Birmingham International Airport has a few hundred yards of shuttle railway in an overhead form taking you directly to the railway station and exhibition centre entry point. What more can you ask for,, fantastic. It would be correct to say it's not a central location for Scotland and northern England, but its not just a geographic choice, it's a "how easy is it to get to" choice, and there has to be a weighting for population numbers,, for example we can't locate it in Scotland because it's halfway between the Isle of Wight or channel Islands and the Shetland Isles,,, so easy access by all modes of transport would seem logically paramount considering the mass of people, not just London and south of the Thames. I lived in London for many years but one has to be fair about it.

Smith in good size REMEMBER TO CLOSE THIS AND SUBSEQUENTLY EACH NEW WINDOW AFTER EACH VIEWED PHOTOGRAPH.
It's good to see big operators moving to Electric Vehicles for goods delivery. TNT are not the only ones heading this way. Back in time in the 1950's home milk delivery was done in an electric vehicle,,, and many double decker buses on city and town routes were all electric and called Trolley Buses, I have not researched why but they were much quicker off the mark (accelerating) than internal combustion engines,, and would be today if they were available,, however Electric Trams have returned in some cities and are excellent. Personally I think that drivers who don't avoid stopping on tram lines should be subjected to being pushed aside by the tram driver and his insurance would have to pay all costs to other vehicles who were damaged as a result... This would stop those inconsiderates who dont give a damn about anyone else on the road.. --

Bevan bodywork on a Mercedes Electric Lorry in good size REMEMBER TO CLOSE THIS AND SUBSEQUENTLY EACH NEW WINDOW AFTER EACH VIEWED PHOTOGRAPH.
This was quite the best looker at the show, well I thought so! if this drove down the high street it would get everyone looking at it in my opinion. --

This is a Tata Electric Van which was available in different bodies. SEE THE Tipper version on the next link down. --

Another Tata Electric Van available in different bodies. Tipper was one which would have good use for landscape gardeners saving a lot of time unloading dumpable & recyclable materials. --

The world would not be the same without a Ford Transit now it's here with an electric powered version.

Sainsburys Electric delivery Vehicle Van. For those who have no knowledge regards electric motors. They are by far the most efficient power engine for vehicles that require an engine. The power size required by a commercial vehicle van to 7.5 tons would be 90% plus and if an internal combustion engine it's about 15%,, WoW! well you can work out the savings without too much difficulty. This is another image of the paint job on this Sainsburys van. For a domestic car it may be a little less like 88% efficient but even using your 13 amp plug to charge your car even with higher electricity costs you should be able to save cash easily. See the next photograph of a Renault Kangoo Van which could be an MPV. --

This Renault electric Kangoo van may well also be available as an MPV for domestic use. Having driven the present combustion engine model I hope they will improve the sound proofing for the driver and passengers. I did feel it was worse than the previous model in this regard,, sound being reflected from the internal walls to well. A little money spent on this would I am sure increase sales.

Birds Express HGV with appropriate advertising alongside. You can no doubt see information on this company at birds.co.uk

Low cost motoring,,this looks good for a large family or even a Taxi operator as an also ran. Good standby for a multi vehicle operator and also those extra runs for a Taxi operators rush hour or occasional demands, especially because it's cheaper to run, maintenance over the years may focus on battery replacement only.

Renault Van with hydraulics for goods lifting on a platform This has obvious assets in that any person male or female could deliver quite heavy goods with a van and this asset seems to take up little space and as the name suggests it's not expensive,,,,,,,, Is this for you!

Renault Van builders open body with crane lift Open body van with hydraulic crane,, good for various types of merchants and builders, Landscape gardeners and much more.

Citroen Business Class Vans Quite an attention getting slogan and visual effect,, very smart,, and it gets better. Citroen are always up in the front row when its comes to the supply of a van for business or otherwise, so it's a must to also check them out.

Citroen Traffic Master 2011 with Hostesses it seems,, that gives new meaning for White Van Man,, but seriously the Ladies were very smart indeed. Richard Branson's people must be slipping because they have missed these two young ladies for Virgins cabin staff. The uniforms don't need much alteration, well not in colour,,,,,,,, the van,, Ah Yes! well it's the Traffic Master Smart Nav,,, and Citroen are no slouches in the vehicle market place so check them out.

Vauxhall Van with container drop and haul Is this what your company have been looking for,, horses for courses,, special vehicles for different needs.

Its always nice to see a good old HGV of this class in such nice condition at the CV Show (Commercial Vehicle). This is part of history. The Yeoman Southern Comforts registration number is OWS 948R with Pickfords Resolute on the trailer which is a Scammell registration number VXD 530

Yeoman Heavy Haulage registration number 60 SHW in great condition, top marks for those responsible for its care, really wonderful.

Night Freight home delivery vehicle Night freight had this home delivery vehicle at the CV show (commercial vehicle) its body design and no doubt engine may well be at the front of ECO standards,, more and more attention will be paid to commercial vehicle economy the way fuel prices are going. Electric home delivery for night freight may available very soon if not already?

Darwin Diesels were at the CV show quite an impressive stand and service they seem to offer,,,, you can check them out on their website,,,,,,,,, sure you can find it,,

The Freight Transport Association at the CV show with quite an impressive stand which seemed to have interested and good attendance.
