General Pattons Look-alike in Oswestry with WW2 Vehicles & Costume Commemoration in 2005
General Patton appeared in Oswestry in September 2005, well he was near enough a doppelganger for General Patton, the spirit of the intention was 100% evident.
The event was a World War 2 vehicles and costume event to commemorate WW2, and those, who gave their lives for freedom & democracy. General Patton was a distinguished General who had a reputation for getting things done rather quickly, or advancing quickly on the enemy in a determined and aggressive manner. Many others of similar, or near the same rank, did not share his views. To move away from controversy I will keep this simple and give credit to his achievements in battle, which were notable.
To move to other matters, the vehicles and all the personal in this parade of vehicles were all in first class period uniform and dress,,, It was a jolly good show by all concerned. As you look through the photographs you will see that the time all those involved spent, getting ready, acquiring the dress for this special weekend in Oswestry, was exemplary. I pay tribute to them,,, Jolly well done!
Photographs below record the Oswestry WW2 Commemoration day Parade. This included Vehicles from that period. Further than that the General Patton look-alike was excellent, as were everyone else and the vehicles that took part. I think they did a fantastic job and took so much trouble to prepare and deliver themselves and costumes/dress from that period,,, which of course I remember very well due to my age.
