Harry Tuffins Transport Cafe (Truck Stop) & Supermarket is located in the village of Churchstoke on the A489, but about 300 yds from the A490. Churchstoke is located between Ludlow on the A49 and Newtown on the A483.Travelling from Ludlow it is located on the near side, the HGV entrance is the first entrance and about 300yds after passing the 30MPH limit sign.
I would like to pay a tribute to Harry Tuffin for providing a service to all those who enter, the atmosphere is relaxed and countryside. Its really good to have such an establishment trading. There are few like it in the UK, long may Harry Tuffins continue.
Fuel can be purchased at 6p per litre cheaper if you spend £50 plus in the supermarket, its worth a trip out as all prices are good, and bargains are there to be had. His fuel prices on the pump alone, without the discount, are always amongst the lowest in Britain. As I write this update on 14th January 2003 it is 73.9 for diesel, less another 6p if you spend that £50 in the supermarket.which is 67 .9
As far as I know thats the cheapest in the UK beating Tesco and Asda and Safeway by far.
A number of improvements and additions are in the process, A garden centre, (NOW OPEN) an extension to the supermarket sales area, new sections in the supermarket, improved range of all fresh foods. Last but not least there are plans to increase the Cafe area and refit it at the same time.
Harry Tuffins Transport Cafe is a very popular stop for locals and none locals for miles around, as is his supermarket also on site. Home cooked food is good and costs 299p for a dinner, various choices are always available.
Harry’s Transport cafe opens 7 days and Sunday is his busy day with locals for Sunday dinner, various roasts are available. The supermarket is also open. A Launderette is open every day, take yer own powder or buy in the supermarket
Harry Tuffins is located in Wales by a few hundred yards, but this is the Marches of Wales and Shropshire. Marches means border land, very nice it is to. As a Transport Cafe it must rate at the top and is well worth a stop.
It operates normal business hours for the cafe, dinners are available until near 3pm daily
Opening times for the cafe are as follows...
7 days a week 8.30am until 4.30pm cooked meals
Tea or coffee and other small available items until near 5pm, this I am advised as a result of a telephone call to them.
Harry Tuffin himself passed away a number of years ago, god bless him, the stores Managing Director is Paul Delves, however the store is still part of the Harry Tuffin Family. I understand that Roy & Ruby Delves are Joint Chair-Persons to the company.
My congratulations to them all for continuing as Harry did, keep it up!
Fuel is available for HGV. Overnight parking would be easy here, but I should ask, he has lots of space.
