The Laidhay Croft Museum & Cafe is located about 45 minutes from Thurso on the A9, just south of Latheron and north of Dunbeath. When northbound its on the off side, signs are on the verge some hundred yards before from each side. Its a terrific stop for Coaches and any member of the public who doesn’t have an HGV or LGV with them at the time (stop that moaning in the back row).
Coach passengers will love the home made cakes as granny used to make them, and the price is very reasonable. Coach drivers will get very happy passengers after this stop, you must try it, I promise you will return, its an experience.
For those HGV drivers from the far north, you can take the boss (wife) at the weekend in the spring or summer because it’s a seasonal operation. I have to admit that if I want a nice cuppa or cake or a slap up breakfast its my choice. Proper eggs from the local fields with deep colour, not yellow anaemic looking eggs from some poor battery chicken, the chicken that laid these eggs would be running free over the fields and moors,
