If Scania is your trucking favourite, there’s no better event than the Gathering of the Griffin.
Set to take place on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of September at Orwell Crossing Lorry Park in Ipswich, this is the third year for the event, which has been named V3.
The show is purely for Scania trucks and claims to be the biggest gathering in the UK. As it stands, the event has 115 trucks booked in and is expecting more before the gathering begins.
This year spans 47 years of Scania and promises to show the best the trucking brand has to offer, through the ages. To bring your Scania to the show, you will need to book in with the GOTGV3 team and pay a £10 admission fee. There will also be honesty buckets for the public to make a donation.
Saturday will be the main arrival day for the trucks and the public are welcome then, but the main day will be Sunday.
To weed out the Scania champions, there will be a number of judging categories, including:
- Pre 1981
- 2 series
- 3 series
- 4 series
- R5 series
- R6 series
- Best Fleet
- Best Working truck
- Best rigid
- Best in show overall
- Best Customised
- Best V8
So, there’s plenty of opportunities to leave with a trophy!
The show’s founder and organiser, Rob Billman, said: “The show format, which we believe to be completely unique, is to bring together a stunning array of Scania trucks through the ages, and to display them where possible, in chronological order. The rules of entry state that polishing of trucks is definitely optional, condition of the truck irrelevant, but having a good time and socialising is all that is required. This is a chance to celebrate the marque and share in the passion. Last year’s show went beyond anything we had imagined and this year’s show is shaping up to be exceptional.
“Spanning across almost 50 years of Scania in the UK, trucks will be attending from all over England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. We are very fortunate to be supported by the Orwell Crossing Lorry Park and have the use of their fantastic amenities including a restaurant, bar and washroom facilities – making the event warm and family-friendly.”
