The device spider is fitted to the door when it is open, the door is then closed. When the spider handle is put into the locked position the door becomes a part of the cab body in effect, and the need to use the manufacturers door lock ceases to exist.

I woke up at 3am in a lorry park at the Fina Services E17, South Lokeren, to find my lorry door open and all my money and personal possessions stolen. What was more frightening was the fact that I had been gassed! This was the second time I had been broken into but the use of gas was scary and made me feel very ill for several days. I searched the market for some protection and, finding nothing, resorted to strapping my cab doors together to give myself some security whilst asleep. Hundreds of miles, and many sleepless nights later, I had invented, designed and patented the 'proteK-dor.' This simple but very effective device, fits easily in seconds with no drilling and is making life easier for truck drivers. The 'proteK-dor' can also be quickly removed if a quick exit is required and folds down for storage. It is highly visible from the outside and an instant and obvious deterrent. Once fitted it is impossible to open the door from the outside, even if the door lock is broken. The intruder would then have the choice of breaking the window, but this would be very noisy, difficult (given the height of the vehicle) as well as time consuming, and entry would still be almost impossible. proteK-dor is proving to be a success. I have given up driving to concentrate all my efforts on this venture and we recently moved into premises. It is now an official Scania part, but we supply to all other makes of trucks. Showing the spider with four legs, the forth leg is the locking handle (seen in the photo in the left diagonal position) which when pushed down secures the three spider legs. When the locking leg (handle) is pushed down into position it is level with one of the horizontal legs and is not obvious to the viewer, hence there appear to be three legs.
