Road Traffic Information Great Britain Real Time (uk)

Road traffic condition information is what we all want every day when we are on the road. The transport operator needs good information to ensure efficient operation of his/her business. The Government has been working on this project for some few years now, and its getting better. England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland south and North, and London, have their own websites where this live information can be obtained.

Because it can be very difficult for users to locate all the websites required to supply you with the information you require, I have collected them here and maintain and check them from time to time,,, I do urge caution when using the England website as information is often found to be totally wrong and roads listed as blocked are clear,,, and the reverse,,, drivers are best advised to use a CB radio and check with other direction bound drivers, for road information. Companies would be well advised to provide a CB radio in their drivers cabs free, to enable drivers to complete journeys in the best possible way.

It is possible for the driver to phone base and ask the office to check on a problem, this aspect can be very useful. Sat: Nav: systems can update you as you drive which is the better way to go,,, but the web still needs its full information available. Try these websites and if you experience any problems of any kind please get back to me, I am always interested in any reports.

If you have a Tom Tom Sat Nav in your vehicle and would like to enter all the UK LOW BRIDGES into it then send an e mail to the webmaster,,, I have many other points of interest from national trust to Mc-Donald's so please ask,,, I have to many to list. Many Hotels, all the well-known ones for coach drivers, even lighthouses. A point of interest enables you to enter it as a destination in the same way as a favourite or postcode location and it takes you to the door, cant be bad!

This was the poorest site of all those above, but, I am sure it will improve as all the above seem to be in moving beta format,, as the whole thing settles down. Cameras in London were quite good in that there are a reasonable number, I assume they will grow in numbers on all the sites, hopefully England as they have near ZERO This site does have a lot of data.

www.nationalsafetycameras.co.uk seems to be closed down,, however some uk areas are active,, put the web address into google and see many results for different areas. It may help you!

Lots of other technical data, like pollution and Car Tax Costs. You must look at this before thinking of buying a new or used car. For example entry into London's vehicle tax zone may cost a lot more for polluting vehicles, and less to zero for those that don't .. SORRY CHAPS NOT HGV OR COMMERCIAL VEHICLES, But new cars in the UK. Its an extensive database and has been very good. It was easy to compare,, what was a good site has changed yet again, and has again appeared with drop down this and drop down that, coupled with the new blinkered vision for the user,, in other words as it is in its new form, it cannot perform as many functions that the original did. It appears to be change for the sake of change, and dam the fact that it offers less visibility to the user. You can operate it easily, but, a user could do more, and see more, at once, with the older version. This new version dated February 2006 does not allow you to choose list of best fuel performers, it asks you to select MPG (miles per gallon) groups, how the hell granny knows what group to select beats me! cos we have difficulty keeping up, and it should have a best list, because anyone looking for that data needs that!

Mobile Phones & Mobile Ham Radio from your Vehicle (The Law).

The Radio Society of Great Britain made representations to HMG whilst this legislation was being formed. AS a result Ham Radio is exempt and can be operated whilst driving,, as it always has been,, but,, it is subject the law as it has always been applied. Responsible operation is required, for example your hands must be free and on the steering wheel when negotiating a roundabout,, or any other movements that a police officer would expect a driver to have full vehicle control. I will update this when I have more information. Other users like CB Radio have the same special consideration.

The Statutory Instrument No. 2695 can be viewed at: The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No.4) Regulations 2003 Statutory Instrument 2003 No 2695. this lays out clearly the exemptions under the new law. This Law applies to CB Radio, and other hand held radios used in vehicles. Please read the Statutory Instrument in this regard,, my word on this or any other person means nothing, as it is my appreciation of the law, which may be incorrect, even if I believe it to be correct, Got That!
