This Photograph of boys was taken in the Military compound or Army head quarters (HQ) on the edge of Sadam City, which is or was, Sadam Hussein's home town or City. You can see these boys have badges to allow them entry to the military site. They are seen here with some of the heavy goods vehicles waiting to head off to deliver goods in Iraq.
One of the two boys spoke English, when he was asked if he was glad Sadam Hussein was gone he pretended not to hear, or at least he remained silent, not unnatural given the society he was brought up in, he seems quite proud here of his packet of American Cigarettes, drivers can be seen having a chat in the background.
We also have a photograph of Nijmegan Bridge taken a few years after world war two ended. It has featured in many films made about that period.
No sensible person wishes to go to war, millions of people were killed in WW2! And some people might say the war should not have happened, Britain should not have declared war on Germany,, I understand their feelings,, but consider this,, even after millions have lost their lives,, what type of world would we be living in today,, with a Hitler Type government, and Japanese type government of yesteryear in control, how many if us would be alive or not in slave labour, what would society be like, its just about unthinkable.
Today tens of years later how do you think the people of Germany and Japan would cast their vote, would either of them prefer the regimes of that period, or the society they each have today? Each rule their own country, its not under an American or British boot, they are free, as Iraq will be. France would have lost its country in ww1, but for the British, and it did in WW2. The result was Britain & America & The British Commonwealth Countries returned France to the French, is France under American or British control today, I think not, that thought is laughable. Essentially for 50 years America protected Western Europe, France included from possible Soviet Incursion (a polite way of description). Each country declared that an attack on any one of us (NATO) would be an attack on all.
America was attacked by Middle East Fanatics, we all have fanatics, but,, these attacked and killed hundreds of people and tried for much more. Where were America’s friends, who stood by America and who walked away, I regret that some countries in western EU are still walking away with troop removals, submitting to Terrorism, then essentially relying on America and Britain, Canada, Australia, Poland, Holland, plus other good Countries to do what has to be done and deal with the fanatics,,, it has to be done as much as WW2.
We have failed the Palestinians, and Israel is totally wrong to even think about keeping captured lands, to have built on them, even one single brick on another, was wrong, because one day peace has to come.
America has failed to mediate perhaps due to selfish interest from another (large) religious group within its own borders. Israel and its peoples should know better than to take other lands with the intention of keeping them, above all people they should know better. 2000-year-old arguments hold no common sense with the world today!
Today in 2008 Israel is still building on lands outside the borders created after WW2. One problem is religious fanatics who threaten people outside their own borders,, they really think they can gain something by killing. American has and does support Israel and it may be said by some Terrorists that’s why they do what they do,,, however its not the answer,,, frustrated or not,,, its crazy to think that leaders of organised religious groups can use others as live bombs, getting them to kill themselves, whilst the leaders sit in safety staying alive,, drinking a toast to the killing they started.
They must really think that they can win such a war,, they can never win,, but they can cause death which will eventually (and has in small measure) return to where it came from with added bonuses. People can get very angry as America did,,, well wouldn’t you if such a thing happened to your country,, it was a step to far,,, much to far,,, which is why America reacted,,, even if they had been upsetting some groups with their support for Israel when it was in the wrong,,, this was not the answer,,, war, killing, is never the answer.
Eventually Israel will give back the lands it took,, only because it has to, so it may as well be quicker,, rather than later,,, but I expect it will drag on until an American president makes it 100% plain he/she will isolate Israel, zero support, all military connections severed, finished. At the same time Terrorists would need to stop 100% any action against the so called west,,, if that cant happen,,, then America will need to support Israel and take severe action against those countries who still threaten the west. It would have zero choice! So,,, attacking the west in any way will eventually bring down really bad things on those countries who financially support the terrorists,, not because any person in the west wants that, but because there is no choice. It only needs something bad enough to happen,, and it would be kiss your infrastructure goodbye to at least 2 countries,,, are those countries daft enough not to see that,, personally,, I now think they are,, even if they could see such a possibility coming I do believe they don’t have enough control over fanatics,, if a large country looses its infrastructure,,, millions will die,,, in that country,, government will cease to exist,, that’s not good for anyone.
