The Skiach Services Transport Cafe is located on the A9 25 miles north of Inverness. After crossing the Kessock bridge at Inverness you follow the A9 over the Black Isle, then across the Cromarty Firth bridge, where the A9 continues north to the B9176 (this used to be the A836 on older maps), turn off at this slipway where the Skiach Services is clearly visible on your near side in less than 100 yds.
Dont be confused by any earlier services signs a few miles before this B9176 turn.
A new lorry park has been constructed here. TV reception is excellent from your cab if you have a portable TV, as is cell phone coverage.
This transport Cafe has been operating for more than 20 years offering good service to HGV and travellers. It's often a welcome sight on a winters day for truckers/drivers going north and south, a dependable haven in the mountains.

I am entering an update here on August the 18th 2002. I was told that the management had changed. I asked them on the 17th August 2002 if this was so, and was told Nothing has changed.
I observed some of the meals coming out of the kitchen and they were up to standard for drivers. The cook (lady) made me a meal when I came in late before, she did not know who I was, so chaps, Skiach seemed just fine when I have passed through, unless you know different?
I understand the kitchen closes a little before closing time for obvious reasons.

Mr Tesco southbound on the Scottish Mountain Tops, he gave me a wave. Its the freedom of the open road that gets to a driver up there, no traffic jams, well, not in the winter. Keep that food going up to Inverness Tesco. 24 hour shopping there just 100yds up the A96 towards Aberdeen, off the A9 if you need supplies out of hours. If you have a large HGV you can still stop there later evening time and all night.
Leaving the A96 roundabout another roundabout arrives, take the 2nd exit which takes you towards the new multi screen cinema and Burger bar area. Because its quiet you can take your time and park where it takes your fancy.
