Webmaster Report

Nocton Heath Diner has a new owner and new name, now known as "The Kitchen" Nocton Heath. Its next door to RAF Waddington which has a public viewing area for Aircraft, so if you are planning a visit to Royal Air Force (RAF) Waddington, then these food services are less than a mile down the road (south).. The new owner certainly has a very impressive establishment. Sparkling clean with food that can only make your mouth water (See photographs).

My impression was a very well cared for establishment, with excellent showers for HGV drivers, Multi Drop Drivers, White van men, who need that overnight stop or freshen up. The lorry park has a very good surface for all vehicles and wide enough for those escorted HGV's who need a stop for the night.

The Kitchen at Nocton Heath is the future for many Transport Cafes, it’s an all round cosmopolitan food stop,,,,,, and obviously proud to be so, it has its truck or Lorry logo on the signage, as well as the Les Routiers logo. This food Stop (Transport Café, Truck Stop) is definitely there for every body!

I must say a few words about Transport Cafes and Truck Stops, because the Nocton Heath Kitchen is unique. It will attract those people who fear the word Transport Cafe, we all know they exist,, of course they may have an impression formed from an experience, or just the old connotation of the word, Transport cafe, which may conjure up rather unhealthy meals,, or meals in fact which the drivers of yesteryear needed to keep fit, and do their job. There was little heat in a HGV drivers cab, the inside of the windscreen could freeze or try hard, and often lots of noise over 90db. Lorries were flats that had to be roped and sheeted in all weathers,,, with knuckles and hands freezing cold, horribly greasy and dirty from the road grime gathered all over the vehicles. Washing your hands after each stop of un-sheeting and re-sheeting was essentially mandatory. I can remember doing this using snow and in-cab soap and towel, because many deliveries had no facilities, or they were outside and frozen. At times it was a hell of a job,, I know because I did it a long time ago as a one time HGV Driver all over the UK. This is an image of a Joint of Pork made ready for the DAILY CARVERY at noon, in about 1.5 hours it will all be gone, and you can see why!

You can see from the photographs that the whole place is sparkling; the food preparation areas are 100% clean and a credit to the whole staff and management.
