The Thistle Transport Cafe Truck Stop is a comprehensive operation comprising of course a Transport Cafe, very secure fenced Overnight Park, plus a CB Radio repair facility housed within the truck park compound.
I was impressed with just this Radio facility alone. If you have a problem with your radio call in when north or south bound, leave it with John (the owner) and possibly collect it on the flip flop (CB language for ..on the way back..). Buy a new antenna or SWR meter for in line monitoring, coax cable or plugs.
If you need a new coax feed I am sure john has a number made up ready.
Perhaps a new CB or a mobile phone, all are available in a nice friendly atmosphere.
The full correct address is as follows....

Transport cafe hours of business updated February 2006.
Monday to Thursday 7am until 7pm
Friday 7am to 6pm
Closed Sat and Sunday.
If you turn off the M6 at junction 42 (A6) and turn east it is visible as an exit on the large roundabout which services the entry and exits of the M6.
Fuel bunkering at Exelby multi lane diesel bays is available. Its really a meeting point for goods vehicle drivers.
I have not tasted the food at the Thistle Transport cafe (truck stop) but would be pleased to get reports from any reader.
UPDATE from webmaster.
I called in at this cafe in may 2003 with my son and young lady, both are high flyers and fussy, nothing wrong with that, so here goes,,,, they were very impressed, it was clean all over (ALL),, and the food was very good indeed, I have to admit that the steak pie was excellent, the chips were excellent, and the puddings were also excellent. If it is always like this the it would beat the BP Truck Stop at Carlisle quite often, I say quite often because as we all know there is near always more than one cook at many transport cafes, change the cook and change the meals, unless there is quality control somewhere out there,,,, no!,,,,, then we take our chances, however,, the Thistle was top notch and it may well be all the time,,,, you tell me!
If any reader can supply me with more information regards times, fuel, or any other details I would appreciate an E Mail.
