A bespoke truckstop!
The Junction 23 Lorry Park is a bespoke truckstop that opened in 1986 and is tailor made for truckers. It is just off Junction 23 of the M1 near Loughborough, hence its name. It’s owned by the same organisation that operates Fred Sherwood haulage, so you know it will be driver focused.
The site has 180 parking spaces for trucks, in a fully fenced compound with 24/7 CCTV which means security is top rate. There is also a barrier for entry and exit.
The café is open Monday-Friday from 0600 until 2100, while Saturday it is open 0600-1100. The restaurant is open Monday-Friday from 1100-2100. The site also has a licensed bar.
The breakfasts offered at Junction 23 can be pretty much tailored to the individual’s requirements. The standard ‘full English’ comprises two sausages, two rashers of bacon, two eggs, a choice of beans or tomato, and fried bread or toast, and costs £4.85.
You can add extra items to this at 85p each, and offered are fried potatoes, hash browns, black pudding and mushrooms, so if you wanted the full shebang, it would be £8.25, but a real plateful!
If you don’t fancy a traditional breakfast, then egg, beans or scrambled eggs on toast are all £2.70 a go. A breakfast roll with three fillings is £3.50 and you can have a combination of sausage, egg, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms and the like to suit your taste.

Being a relatively new site, and with good financial backing behind it, Junction 23 is a very modern and clean establishment.
It offers a genuine service catered for truck drivers a stone’s throw away from one of the country’s busiest motorways. It is secure and perfect for drivers, and the food is good with the portions sizeable (I didn’t even get to finish my meal as there was so much on the plate!) The site is clean and the staff were very friendly. Definitely a good place for truckers.
